Civil War Ladies

This summer I went to a Civil War Re-Enactment. And I drew these ladies. They had the most wonderful dresses, and just once or twice gave a kind of a time warp effect. I knew it was 21st century, but sometimes that fell away just a little, with a delightful and eerie result.

Big Turkey

One nice turkey. I was afraid the coyotes had eaten him during the recent blizzard, but no, him and his buddy were back for more food the other day. Gosh, pictures don't do him justice, he is really beautiful in the morning sun. I passed my hunting course this year so I can buy a license to kill him, and his relatives too, except now I don't want to. I am going to wind up being a vegetarian if this trend doesn't stop. You can see the beard of feathers hanging down that marks him as a male.

Dog sledding pt.2, the cast of characters

They are all good dogs.

Dog Sledding

One of the perks of blizzards is lots of snow. And one of the perks of snow is dog sledding. It is such fun. I am taking my first ride on a dog sled through a county park. Eight dogs, one musher and me. A lot of fun!

The Blizzard of the Month

This a picture of a man engaging in the the Wisconsin state sport of "Snowblowing in a Blizzard." In this sport, participants go out in 50 mile an hour winds and dense snowfall to battle the elements for control of the sidewalk. Its is a contest between man and the primal forces of nature reminding us that we are not called "Cheeseheads" for nothing.

Its Spring!

I found these in a garden center, nestled in the Astilbe.
